Hey guys:
Believe it or not, this is the first TTTEC of 2011. I received this from Amanda, who is a friend of Mary's. She contacted me asking for my opinion on Mary's 'relationship'. My comments, as shared via email, follow the issue. I received permission from Mary to put this on the blog.

Here we go....

Dear SSD,

My friend Mary is in desperate need of your opinion and that of your readers.

Bola and Mary have been dating for a while now. They got connected through a mutual friend of theirs on Facebook. At first, it was the usual chatting on the phone, Facebook, Skype e.t.c Soon they both discovered similar things about themselves although they had not met yet because Bola stays in Maryland and Mary is in New Jersey but that did not deter their friendship at first. Then all of a sudden they began to argue a lot over the simplest issues, they would stop talking for like two three weeks then they would make up. Things just went on like that for a few months.

One random night Bola called Mary and told her that he "cannot do it anymore" and then hung up on her. She was very upset, but there was nothing she could do because at that time, they still had not met. Two months later when she went on facebook one night she saw that he was online but she did not acknowledge him. Then his chat icon popped up and he asked how come he had not heard from her in a while. She reminded him that he stopped talking to her, and then he said he was in trouble that she should give him a call. She said she would do so in the morning. Still, he called her while she was asleep. She later tried to reach him but could not get him she kept trying for about three months. She tried to find out what was going on and learned that Bola was in jail and would not be out for four months.

Not knowing what to do or why she continued with school, work e.t.c. Three months later Bola called her and said, "Baby where have you been, why have i not heard from you?" She was so confused because she knew he was in jail. To cut the long story short, Mary and Bola resumed their relationship and they finally met. She flew to Atlanta to see him. About a week after she got back they were talking on the phone as usual when the conversation became suspicious. Bola started talking about how he wanted a baby. He went on to say that he has a baby by an African American woman. He went on to tell Mary that he did not want to tell her about this when she visited him because he did not want to spoil their time together.

Mary did not know how to respond but the relationship has taken a downward spiral from there because the baby mama has a whole lot of drama and Bola thought it was best they went their separate ways so he can sort himself out but the thing is Mary is not ready to let go and Bola is not helping either because he still calls her and considers her "more than a friend"

Please, what advice can you give to my friend Mary?
Thanks so much,

Okay folks. Now, I cannot lie. One of the reasons why there have not been a lot of TTTECs as recent, was because well, most of the issues I receive are very 'heavy'. Sometimes, I am emotionally drained after taking time to listen to readers who simply want an objective and anonymous ear to hear about what they are going through. I am happy to be that ear, and have been doing the same for many people since I was a child. I'm used to it.

Our voracious reader...

It's been a long while since I updated the blog with gist about the kids. The reality is that they are such big kids now that keeping up with their hilarious ways is a job in itself. And I am thankful for that.

With that said, I cannot believe that my mini-me, TE is only days away from turning 7. She is really tall and as always, very opinionated. She continues to put her brothers to task and because they love her, they are still swayed by her demands.

And for my hubby and I, we are trying to keep up with her voracious appetite for chapter books. On the weekend, the girl can read two books in less than 24 hours. We need to put a line item into the family budget just for the girl's books at this rate.

The other day, I made the mistake of buying some book for her that just was not going to work. My husband took a look at the thing, flipped through the pages and started frowning. He soon showed me an illustration with a girl talking about kissing her crush.

*cue dramatic music*
Gen gen....

Keep in mind that this is the same man who had a cow when he learned that his daughter's male kindergarten classmate had given her his number last year. Lol!

Then, I laughed at him. However, I had to agree that although TE reads at 5/6th grade level, any book talking about kissing boys is far too mature.

As such, the book was returned the very next day, sharpish. I didn't want any wahala and definitely didn't need any stress. Can you imagine if anything were to happen in the future (God forbid bad thing) and all anyone will say is "Shebi you are the one that bought that useless book for the girl?"

Olorun maaje!

Anyway, do you guys have any suggestions on books for my mini-me? I now have her reading the magic tree house series but in no time, she will run through all 37 books. Also, I am looking for good books that reflect her Afro-Caribbean heritage as well. Sad that I just can't find enough books to help her learn more about her Nigerian ancestry specifically.

Okay folks, I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Here's wishing you a blessed week. I wasn't going to put up a TTTEC this Friday but we have a young lady that really wants to know your opinion. So, I have edited her email with all the relevant info and will talk to her a bit more this week, but you guy's will get to chime in on Friday.

Please listen to this. I PROMISE you go laugh die!

Busted from Phad on Vimeo.

This is exactly how to catch a cheater. The threat of HIV/AIDS is enough to cause anybody to go "Oh my God!"

But as funny as this clip is, there remains the reality that HIV/AIDS is ravaging the African continent and so many people are bringing the disease home to their spouses and destroying even more lives. Folks need to strap it up and/or abstain. Yes, I said abstain.

Hope everyone is ready for a nice relaxing weekend.

Okay, I know the pics in my last post never worked. My apologies. My old computer died and I have just not found the time to look for the shoe pics. My bad but I finally put the pics up. Please feel free to take a peek when you are done with this.

So, to make it up to everyone, I have a video that works and will be easy viewing. Well, maybe not so much. First off, this is NSFW. Also the video comes with serious sound effects and a man speaking some serious Chinese, so turn your volume down.

The video is for some Chinese bra that allegedly will take a woman from an A cup to a C cup. It will also help the cells in your breast (at least that's what it looks like from the video, don't sue me, I don't speak Chinese). All I could do while watching this 5 minute commercial/infomercial/epileptic seizure in the making was think abouyt DJ Zeez's song "Bobee FC" and the girls in the video. Then I remembered that sugabelly, exschoolnerd and bumight have serious chestises (chests) (remember the 'Tapping Current' post'?) and probably should not go anywhere near this contraption. In fact, I should add rayo to the list of babes that should go nowhere near one of these things.

Anyway, without further ado, make una come see Chinese abracadabra...

The only way I would buy one of these things is if it was guaranteed to make all those action movie sound effects whenever I strangled my chest with it. lol!

Have a good week people!

Hattip to where I go to waste time.
