BOMBOY IS TOASTING GROWN WOMEN!

I generally do not get embarassed. After all, life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes you will do stuff that is silly and well, you just have to get over it, is my opinion. As a consequence, I never would get embarassed even by the craziest things I did or that those around me did.

But, all that changed with kids. From my son, TK, smacking random ladies backsides to all 3 of my kids telling the world the color of my underwear, there has been no shortage of embarassing moments with my wee-ones.

With all of that, you would think I would have gotten used to their antics. Unfortunately, Bomboy managed to take things to a whole other level the other day.

Now, let me give you a little backstory. Bomboy has been a flirt for a very long time. Well, while I was in Lagos, husband took the kids camping. He informed me that while hanging out with the kids, Bomboy would ask him, "Daddy, isn't she pretty?" whenever a lady walked by. Upon hearing this, I promptly asked Husband what he said to his son and whether he chastised the boy. Husband instead informed me that he was too shocked to react and could only manage to mutter a stunned "Uh huh!". I warned my Husband that the next time such happened, he should simply make Bomboy recite his ABCs. After all, the only thing a 3 year old needs to know is his alphabet, not whether women are pretty or not, shebi?

Well, why was my son toasting grown women, in my presence the other day? My goodness!!!! I was looking at a couple things in a store and next thing I knew, Bomboy, armed with a bag of Doritos, looked some lady up and down as she walked by and told her, "You're so beautiful!"

EHHHH????

And, he didn't stop there oh! As another lady walked by, he informed her "She (referring to the first lady he had toasted) is so beautiful!" Then he paused, checked this second lady out, and informed her, "Oh, you are beautiful too!!!" Of course, all the women standing around chuckled and smiled at him and all I could think to myself was "OMG!!!!" (yes, I say OMG, but only in my head!).

I had to get my son's attention because he had started to follow the object of his attention (lady number 1). We had a brief conversation in which I explained to him that it was inappropriate for him to approach women that way, especially since he is only 3. The guy barely heard a word I said.

*sigh*

I know, you guys are going to find it funny, but my mother has always said that of all my children, Bomboy was the most Nigerian of them all. I can't help but worry that the boy picked up my father's genes. Far be it for me to speak ill of the dead, but let me just say, the man 'appreciated' women, haha. It seems Bomboy is showing a similar appreciation! My brother's son once toasted a girlfriend of mine. His opening line was "Hey baby!" He was 4 at the time and my friend said that had he been older, he would have gotten a nasty look, but she couldn't help but be intrigued by my nephew and so sat with him for hours, engaged in all manners of conversations.

Oh my goodness! I can only hope that  if Bomboy ever tries to toast babes in my presence, I will react proactively and in a way that encourages him to either
  1. toast babes his age, or
  2. not toast any women his age!
God help me with this character you sent to me. I love him greatly, Lord, but you have got to help us raise him well so he doesn't end up a rascal. Amen!

Well, I hope you are all well, people!

Haha he's a card carrying member of the female appreciation society. As they say don't hate the player, hate the game!

I understand your fears though it's only going to be cute for sometime. But he might grow out of it some of the most forward kids grow up to be shy teenagers and adults.

Please appreciate the little man. These are the things you will look back on with joy when he is older. My youngest son had a killer smile when he was small and he could make my friends forget all else when he was around. A very useful talent when he wanted to collect money for his school or for charity, etc.

On the other hand, now that he is a young man, I have heard on the grapevine that he is a 'player' but I choose not to look into what that is all about!

O. M. G!
It wasn't just my son! I so distinctly remember being in Dress Barn with him in a stroller and he put both hands on the side of the stroller in order to hoist himself to look around the edge of the stroller at this woman's backsdide who'd just left the checkout line in front of us!! Then there was the time a teenage friend buckled him in his car seat after a beach outing -- AND HE WINKED AT HER as she was backing out saying goodbye! WINKED!! He couldn't have been more than 3. Guess this is one for the 'nature' side of the argument...

Hmmm, ma'am, the young man is simply appreciating and acknowledging beauty.

Rather you probably should teach him the ethiquette of interacting (& communicating) with ladies.

Thumbs up to Bomboy!!!

Hmmm, while it's funny, I think he's got to be put in check o. Not everyone will find him cute, and chuckle about it. You don't want a situation where you're having words with Mrs. Somebody 'cause Bomboy was 'making passes' at her. Lol.

All the best SSD, and AMEN! to that prayer.

It is funny and cute when a three year old does all these things, but this should be curbed so it doesnt escalate into something else. You sound like a sensible mom and i am sure you will set him straight with time...all the same i could help but chuckle at the story of your adorable 3 year old.
