WHAT ARE THESE CHILDREN WEARING NOWADAYS?

It is very important to Husband and I that our children remain kids for as long as possible. Nowadays, children grow up very quickly and get mature quite early, so we try not to take any actions that will force our kids eyes to 'open', if you know what I mean.

So, it came as a rude awakening when I was in a local Marshall's, looking through the little girls section and found these -

Forgive the quality of the picture but those are leggings with rips in them - for little girls! As in, the size on the leggings were a size '5' typically the size worn by 5 year olds.

Now, can someone explain to me why 5 year olds need to wear ripped leggings? Isn't that a tad too suggestive for innocent little girls?

But that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to suggestive clothing items for kids. A couple years ago, the Limited Too, a store for young girls, sold thongs in many of their outlets. Yes, you read right - thongs. I have even seen those one piece swim suits with cut outs on the side, sort of like the fancy ones video vixens wear in music videos. Personally, I have never even put a bikini on my little girl, no matter how pink or frilly it is. Why? Because I don't want my little girl to grow up too quickly and I can't pretend, the thought of some pedophile seeing my daughter in a suggestive outfit turns my stomach.

Parents have the right to choose what their children wear, and as a parent, I choose to ensure that my daughter and sons dress appropriately for their age. So help me God!

Dats so sad,i don't think young girls should be wearing thongs or overtly sexy clothes.

Yes! We have a right to choose what our children wear! Even though I "try" to move with the trends for them, I make sure they are dressed in decent apparel.

God help us!

Your not far from the truth at all. Children have very absorbent minds. Whatever we teach them is what they learn.

That's actually scary. What's even worse is that some parents would buy those kindsa clothes for their children!

So help you God o. And me too when I start having mine. It's scary, 'cause the world just keeps getting worse, and I can't help but wonder what I'd be up against when I'm raising kids.

There's no doubt that Jesus is coming soon...

In fact, there's nothing that they won't do to sell their stuff these days.

Wise parents would put their foot down and carefully choose what their little girls wear.

Amen to that!

In London, it's bizarre. You see girls dressed as minature women. Very disturbing. PS Heard you on Vera's radio. You have cute voice :)

I saw a picture of Suri Cruise the other day wearing high heels while shopping with Katie. They weren't dress up shoes. They were the real thing. She can't be more than 5 or so, and already she's going to have to worry about knee problems and bunions because her mother things its cute.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus has this new line of clothes out, presumably for the tween crowd, at Walmart. The skirts barely cover a person's butt, and I don't know a single school's dress code that would allow it. Nevertheless, you know girls will want them because Miley designed it.

Sometimes I'm glad I grew up when I did.

I agree with you 100%. Children should be allowed to be just that. Some of these miniature size adult clothes are not it especially of the suggestive styles. No way.

I thought of posting something like this last week when i was walking on the street and primary school children were discussing my Barcelona and my Manchester, if you know what they mean! childhood is almost lost, and yes, parents must do a fiercer job of protecting their children's innocence

Eww, even adults should not have those on. Whatever happened to the "aunty give me cake" dresses?

BTW, I'm still around, just can't come up with something to blog about. I still follow your blog on google reader though. :)

God help us O! I am honestly troubled when l see these small girls in my estate playing around in micro skirts that barely cover their innocent bums and things that daily leave their delicate chest and arms all over the place. And Im wondering, is this the mother or the housegirl...??!
By the time you know what is happening, these children are already so used to skimpy cloths, they cant recognize better. Can't kids be KIDS??! We really need to define our limits as parents.

Thanks for dropping by. And great blog - mother of 3 and with this kind of beautiful blog? I heart you O!

Bring your child up in the way he/she should go and he/she shall not depart from it. . .

We truly need to be careful AND watchful for our children that they are protected from wolves dressed in sheeps clothing seeking to devour them. It is up to us to direct them wisely also in life. Allot of their knowledge and wisdom comes from us.

God Bless!!!
