THE DRIVE BY GANGSTER
Sunday, May 3, 2009
Bomboy is only 2 but he is such a character. You would think I would be used to him by now, but the boy never ceases to amaze me!
Sounds like a good idea, right?
Wrong!
I gave everyone their bowl of pasta and watched as Bomboy gobbled his up. I mean, he practically inhaled the thing. When he was done, he brought me his bowl saying "I'm done, mommy." Knowing that the boy has an ever growing appetite, I dutifully gave him the rest of my own food and filled my belly with water.
The boy quickly finished his second helping and asked for more. Being that his brother and sister were too busy playing to eat all their food, I asked each of them if they would give up some pasta to their brother. Both agreed and I managed to put some more pasta in the boy's bowl.
You would think that would have been enough, but Bomboy was in a gullible mood and once he finished his third helping, he decided to take the quest to find helping number 4 into his own hands. So he walked over to his sister and started asking her a question. Now, please keep in mind that Bomboy's speech is not as clear as an older child and most of the time, we all have to guess at what he is talking about. Anyway, as he spoke to his sister, she turned her head to look out the door, possibly pondering not just what her response would be, but what in God's good name the boy was saying.
And then the wahala began.
I heard TE ask, "Bomboy, did you touch my plate?"
I turned around to see what was going on and managed to see Bomboy, mouth full of something, jump up and run.
TE looked at me frowned and said, "Mama! Bomboy took some pasta from my plate."
I told her sorry and like any good Nigerian mother told her, "But, baby had you finished your food instead of playing, your brother wouldn't have been able to take your food!"
Then, I looked at Bomboy who had a naughty smirk on his face and told him to tell his sister sorry, which he did, and warned him to stop being mean.
Less than a minute later, I heard TE scream and burst into tears.
"MOMMY! BOMBOY STOLE MY PASTA!"
And, there was my son, running by me with a fistful of pasta, plus a mouth full of it, head high, knees high and body moving quicker than I have ever seen him run before. And, as someone who was a runner and continues to run, I can tell you that the boy's form was very good - he has a future as a sprinter!
I couldn't help but burst into laughter and update my Twitter friends with a quick message about my Pasta drive-by gangsta! I mean, you should have seen the shocked look on TK's face, who could only try to comfort his crying sister while I chuckled, updated twitter and then chased after my youngest son.
I will not tolerate such drive-by behavior and attitudes, in my house. The Bomboyis has to stop! lol!
Once I got Bomboy to apologize to his sister and give her a hug, I went to the kitchen and brought more pasta and sausage to appease my 'clients'.
I've got to keep the peace somehow, right?
UPDATE: Have you guys heard of the book tour currently going on in Naija? Our own 'Isi' is a part of it too! Check out Waffy's site as she has the details and hopefully I will do another post about this later in the week. Just wanted you all to know before I forget. If you are in any of the 9 cities this tour will visit, you must be there!

Now that that minor detail has been settled, LOL!!!! That your Bomboy is a real character, but don't blame the boy now, he is a growing lad. The image of you twittering away while TK tries to comfort TE has me in stitches, what social networking sites have turned us to, right? Have a lovely week.

May 4, 2009 8:59 AM
@ Marin: hey girl! I cannot lie! I sent out a quick Twitter message! But I made sure to comfort the babe immediately afterwords. =) How are you and yours?
@ Isha: you are indeed 2nd. lol @ your t-shirt idea. May I borrow that one? "Wifing and mothering" (what we call it around here) is not easy but there are always hilarious incidents like this, sha.
How now?
@ Shubby: hahahaha! "fuget about it!" you have me in stitches cos I am actually imagining him doing a New york Italian accent, even! lol! My sista, how body?
@ Miss Natural: Thanks, so much for swinging by!!! The kids are a handful but I live for the silly moments. =)
The reader from the last TTTEC installment is actually fine. I spoke to her Sunday evening and she liked all the advice she received. Right now, she's trying to figure out the best way to implement some of the suggestions before Segun's mom goes back to Naija. BTW, she saw him on Sunday, but I will wait till Friday to update the Easier Crew, sha.
How are things?
@ Beulah!: my sista, the guy is really gangsta. I just can't believe how cheeky he is! And, you know after the crying fit, his sista wiped her eyes and forgave him like nothing happened? The guy flashes a smile and unleashes his dimples and people can't stay mad at him. But, I will keep and eye on him though. lol!
@ LusciousRon: Indeed, my sista. lol! How now?
@ O'Dee: madam, how body now? Hope all is well with you and yours. Honestly, that pasta and sausage dish tends to be a hit with my kids. The mere mention of the thing even gets them to simmer down when they are super hyper. I don't know what it is. We can't even walk by sausage at the store without people asking when they will get "pasta and sausage". Some scientists should look into that...
@ justdoyin: hey babe! yes, oh. Bomboy's bomboyism is TOO MUCH and it has been like that since the start. I am afraid that as he gets older, it will only get worse, loL!
@ simeoneomobaba: Ol' boy, how body? Your comment is what forced me to stop being lazy and start responding now, now, instead of waiting till later.
lol!
Husband is not Jamo oh!!! He is from Commonwealth of Dominica, and I don't know of any sprinters there. Those people love some cricket though. =)
Any sprinting ability in my children came from you know where - NAIJA!!!! Yup, I claim it for us! lol!
@ Afrobabe: hey sis, how you dey? Hope all is well. Have been delinquent in my blog hopping, but will reach ya side today...
@ Adaeze: my sista, how now? No mind that boy, e just dey tif people food anyhow. I thank God his siblings love him, cos if not ehn...
lol!
@ Funms: hey you! yes of, it should even be "run-by gangsta" shebi? lol! I am still waiting for my piece of the birthday cake, plus jollof rice and 5Alive juice oh! haba!
@ Tairebabs: my sista...you are so right about that kids and food thing. TE was really bad when she was younger. She was so picky, and still is somewhat. My boys, thank God, love anything I put in front of them. That will be good for the women in their future, I think, lol!
How are you?
May 4, 2009 9:48 AM

May 4, 2009 8:04 PM
LOL... bomboy is an interesting character. I bet u never cease to be entertained.
May 4, 2009 8:31 PM
lol.. the drive by gangster. its good he has a healthy apetite.
let the boy chop
May 4, 2009 11:23 PM
I didn't even reach the end of this before i burst out laughing. Your son is a master strategist. I would love to have followed the thought process as he came up with his plan....1st distract the target with baby babble and cute face then when she's not looking grab pasta and runnnnnn!
Btw, what is it with kids that like food? It seems they will go to any length necessary for their favourites. See MJ in Desperate Housewives last night for an example.
May 5, 2009 4:32 AM
Wait,so mummy u had more pasta in the pot and u were allowing him go around like this?i protest on his behalf!!!!
May 5, 2009 8:04 AM

May 5, 2009 11:01 AM

May 6, 2009 2:16 AM
Hee hee hee!!! you gotta love that boy!!!
May 6, 2009 3:13 AM
This was so funny!
Maybe you should have just given bomboy the whole pot of remaining pasta to prove your point! hehehe!
When I was little, I'd finish my own biscuit first so that I can 'beg' my siblings for theirs! hehehe!
May 6, 2009 4:29 AM
Good Heavens (trying to calm the fits of laffter cos i'm at work), that bomboy is just something else, and i'm sure with all these crimes he still manages to pull an adorable look that leaves u almost defenceless.
I hope i have as many fun stories wit my kids too wen the time comes

@ Kabi-Osi Edumare: lol! he is a character. You want a baby eh? Wait until you have to change Bomboy's diaper, I think you would think twice, loL!
Thanks so much fro stopping by!
@ Fantasy Queen: I didn't even think about that. You are so right. Had he held a fork or spoon in his hand, his siblings would have freely offered their food, just to avoid his vengeance, lol!
How you dey?
@ Tay-mee: Quiet children are okay, but I always prayed for rambunctious kids. Looks like I got my prayer answered in spades, lol! So good to see you around these parts. Don't be a stranger!

So good to see ya!
@ QMoney: Everytime I see your name, I start singing that hit "Throw some Ds on it". It starts out with the rapper yelling "New Money!" in his southern drawl.

@ Angelika: lol! Hey you! Oh my, so his Bomboyish ways will only continue, eh? God have mercy!
And, yes girl, he was HONGRY! lol!
@ Writefreak: That is interesting. It really should make its way to Abuja...Well, Aloofar let me know about it, maybe I'll ask him...

May 8, 2009 8:15 AM
lolllll
Bomboy just reminds me of my own son - Gov. who is 5 years of age. They can be a bit hyper, usually bold, eat a lot, play games a lot, do home work when they are in the mood, scream a lot, bully the older brother a lot likes to tell stories a lot, mostly made up...any similarities?
Nice funny post..
May 8, 2009 12:46 PM
You have a High Five from me HERE
May 14, 2009 11:57 PM
Oh MY!! I cant believe my cute little Bomboy has grown into this smart lil boy!!! Luv luv luv it YAY!!! Girl u and I know that if he inherited ur smartness, ur in trouble in the years to come! As u strategize, he'll be doing his own, even if you offer to send him to naija or dominica, he'll tell u that his bags are packed sotey u'll be sad at his excitement to leave, u'll cancel the trip...which was his plan anyway!
TK should be careful, he'll be the one in high schl masking as if he's the older bro. I've friends like that who are older but now evryone thinks they are the younger ones becos their younger siblings made everyone believe that.
He's a growing bobo, let him be jare! who beg u to cook sweet food? If he no chop now, na wahala, this one wey he chop, na wahala! Make sure to tell ur mama, she'll be so happy and reprimand u sef for depriving her baby!!
