"FOR YOUR COMPUTER FRIENDS?" (UPDATED)
Wednesday, March 18, 2009
I was taking a picture of my new bookshelf and my daughter, TE (The Enforcer) asked me if it was for my "computer friends." I laughed out loud because she was right. lol. So, here is a picture of the bookshelf,

On the shelf are a couple books, and those two huge things are a pair of marriage vases from the Congo that I picked up at an antique adventure 2 years ago. They are apparently given as wedding presents by the
Back to TE, she insisted that I take a picture of her hair which I did last night. She also asked if I would share it with my "computer friends". Well, I'm going to oblige her, since it's just the back of her head. So check out my diva's hair.

Just found out (thanks GNG) that I got some nominations in the Category B at the Naija Bloggers Award. I am extremely humbled. I had absolutely no idea that I would get any nominations in that category and was only hoping to get and win one nomination in Category A. I congratulate everyone that got a nomination and wish everyone the absolute best!
Please check out the discussion about the new Nigerian slogan that was introduced to help "Nigerians believe in themselves again."
Also, swing by on Friday for the next installment of Talk To The Easier Crew (TTTEC).
See ya!
UPDATED (03/19): Thanks to everyone who voted for me in Category A of the Naija Bloggers Award. I won "Bloggers Choice Award" and "Best Political Blogger". I honestly can't believe it and am humbled by the confidence from all of you who were kind enough to support me. I just want to say thank you and also extend congratulations to everyone who was nominated, to those who won, and to the entire Blogville family. We dey try sha. Congrats to those fabulous ladies who organized the Awards as well. Okay people, I'm going to need your votes again in Category B, lol!

tell TE your computer friends say thank you o!
March 18, 2009 12:36 PM
I love TE's hair! As a natural hair advocate, I love to see kids showing their hair off! :)
The vases look good and so does the bookshelf. I have one similar to this one and it's filled to the brim with books.
By the way, the Mandinka tribe exists all over the western part of west africa (Gambia, Sierra Leone, Mali, Guinee, Burkina Faso, Northern Liberia and northern Cote d'Ivoire), they just go by different names (Mande, Mandingue, Malinke, Mandingo... etc...etc...)
Those vases are probably from the Bakongo people (I'm guessing since it's from the Congo). They actually look like Bakongo art pieces.
By the way, I'm so jacking TE's phrase! Hi Computer Friends! :D
March 18, 2009 12:50 PM
hahaha...ijust remembered when i used to plait my hair likedat!
lol...fun times!!
March 18, 2009 12:51 PM
Computer friends indeed, LOL. Tell her we love the hair.
I know nothing about art but am stealing the shelf idea. . .as soon as I can gather a few things to display.
March 18, 2009 2:09 PM
I like the bookshelf and was going to ask what those thing were cuz they looked a little suspect but Im glad you clarified it..lol. Your daughter's hair is very cute and I can just picture how wide her grin is. I updated my blog so please check it out
March 18, 2009 2:24 PM
lol at Computer friends! I love her hair...children are such a delight!
March 18, 2009 3:12 PM
tell the enforcer your 'computer friends' love her weave:)
March 18, 2009 3:29 PM
Solomon Sydelle, if you no wan make me and you enter one pant ehn, go and remove that rubbish you put up there asking for votes. What nonsense!!! No vex me ooO! And you even had the audacity to use your pikins as a begging tool. Oooooh, SSD, you dey vex me!
As 4 that marriage thing you got from Congo, it looks like two penises on two balls. And I'm not talking about the balls we play outside. Yes, you know the balls I mean. Maybe you should send the picture to Afrobabe. That's the kind of pic she uses on her posts. LOL
March 18, 2009 3:30 PM
Oh, I like your daughter's hair style. Used to do it when I was a kid. Used to be called, "Love Come Down"
...Dunno if that is still the name now
March 18, 2009 3:35 PM
ah vera i used to call it "rice, beans and dodo"
lmaoooooooooo!
March 18, 2009 4:17 PM
@ Shubbby Doo: Na you carry first!!!!
@ ShonaVixen: catfight!!!!!
@ Tigeress: Aunty Shona is clawing her way back to the stop. I wou;dn't get in her way oh. But, you be Tigeress, so, nothing do you, loL!
@ Rita: TE's hair is very soft and I must say it is due to the extreme care and diligence I put into it. We work hard to maintain a balance that makes life easier for her (the lady getting her hair done) and me (the lady doing her hair). =) How far?
@ SonaVixen: No you are right. I thought I edited it, when I pulled out my notes, but must have forgotten to put the proper tribe name in. Will do so now.
lol! Do they really say that? I learn something new everyday. You got my vote, Madam, but did not 'pay' me. I want some local treats from your side over there. And, am I the only one who thought Kinshar/Oyin was a Naija babe?
@ CaramelD: Na this be the bookshelf oh. We are yet to build the new computer desk. That will be a task.
@ Adaeze: lol! How are you? Are you all better now? Will swing by your side to check on you...
@ Funms: lol! The vases/bowls are actually very nice, at least I think so. I think I will take a close up picture of them for you guys...
@ LG: kekekeke!!!!! LG!!!!! You are too much! For anything on my blog to resemble one of Aunty Afrobabe's blog pictures.... lol!
Thanks for the congrats oh! And congrats to you babe!!!!
@ Nefertiti: Sorry to throw you off, I felt like updating midweek. Won't do it again, lol!
Maybe I should have called the vases bowls? Hmmm...
Did you say you have a big head? And you are asking for your hair to be done for free, after I toiled to do TE's hair? Na wa for you oh! lol!
@ GNG: TE has a way of saying the sweetest things when she wants to, lol! How are ya?
@ ShonaVixen: lol!!!! Hang in there at work ok? The weekend is on its way!
@ Doug: hahahahahaha! jazz ke?
@ Jarrai the Wordmerchant: Don't mind Doug, silly guy. I am quite sure the vases are not from Gambia based on the dealer I bought them from and my subsequent research. I referred to the incorrect tribe in the post. I really must correct the post. Will let the Diva know you dig her hair, but her head will swell, loL!
@ Dabizniz: No way, though it would have been possible. Husband and I worked on it, he did the heavy lifting, I simply slipped the littler things into place. Oh, and he used the necessary power tools. I will never use those things again, if I don't have to!
What is all this jazz stuff? lol! You these Naija people, sha, loL!
@ 1+The One: lol! Thanks so much. Are you a newbie to blogville, as I haven't seen your name around before. Off to check you out...
@ Tinu: lawl!!!!!!! Patewo indeed! hahahaha!
@ bumight: I first saw one at my neighbor's place. Seeing as my kids managed to not destroy it in all this time, I figured we could get one. Plus it is narrow enough to fit that space. Honestly, I wonder if it is too dark (the wood) for my room and the rest of the wood in there. But, I am going to be adventurous and blend styles and pieces. lol! How are ya?
@ brownskinnaijachic: Kai, ya name long no be small!!!! That one na helele, and people dey complain about my own? Haba. We get for christen you oh. "BSNC". All hail BSNC!!!!! That I can handle!
My daughter knows everything, my sista. Can't keep nothing from her lol! Thanks!
@ Shubs: lol!!! I will tell her, no problem!
@ Ms. Sula: Okay, God bless you. I have been under the impression that they were Mangetu/Mambetu wedding vases/vessels, actually. I think I will have to do another post on this when I get more info and if you can steer me in the right direction, please do...
@ Gee: I hope you didn't have to suffer the indignity of sitting with your head in some stranger's stinky lap as I did sometimes. God have mercy, just thinking back is making me nauseous...
@ Mojisola: lol!!! The shelf is a nice contemporary interpretation of the traditional bookcase and I really like it. Once I finish decorating it, it will hopefully be a place to catalogue our life sort of. You should get you one (forgive my ebonics, lol!)
@ Bookie19: How are you! Did you think they were jazz as well? lol!!!!!! Dabizniz and Doug thought so, but they are naughty Easier uncles. =)
Will swing by your side for your update soon.
@ Writefreak: lol! Children are indeed a delight. Thanks, will pass your compliment on to the Diva.
@ Fantasy queen: lol, will do. That will make her feel super!
@ Vera: hahahahaa! you are too much. My dear, if I want to get even one award, I have to oh! I know you have seen the competition because you are one of the many....
Why is everyone referring to Afrobabe because of those items of 19th/20th century African art? Can't we get all your minds out of the gutter this fine day? lol!!!!
@ Vera: "Love come down" ehn? Never heard that before. Thanks for the headsup
@ Gee: "rice beans and dodo"? buahahahaha! I shouldn't laugh, actually. Now I am hungry....
March 18, 2009 5:23 PM
I am obviously not first!!!
lol @ ur computer friends...the girl is right oh....when I am sad I come to check my computer friends too...
March 18, 2009 7:31 PM
