Anyway, I opted to go out for dinner because I knew the kids would love being out at night, and I suggested that our trip to the *ahem* lingerie store happen on Monday which is a public holiday.
And thus began a horrible day!!!!
Well, really, a horrible evening. After having some relaxing 'boo time' with Husband while the kids napped, we finally started to get ready for dinner around 5 pm. We left home at 6 only to get to our favorite Brazilian restaurant and it was PACKED!!!! 'Packed' does not fully express how crowded the place was. Even though I had called an hour earlier, they were unable to accommodate us and the line snaked outside the restaurant. We immediately left and sought a replacement restaurant. Can you believe that every place I called, (and believe me, as a foodie, I have numbers for too many restaurants in the Washington D.C. metro region, which means I called EVERYWHERE,) could not accommodate us? One place I went into was turning away people that had reservations because they were at capacity!
I know they say that there is a recession, and I know that not too long ago, the topic of discussion at this site was where I should hide money in case the banking system fails. But, on Valentine's Day, there was little indication that there is currently a global recession. Even IHOP, a diner with cheap food, was crowded when we drove by. Na wa oh!
So, there we were driving around Maryland looking for a decent place to eat. At one point, TK, who was tired of driving from restaurant to restaurant without seeing food, recommended that we pull into a McDonalds. lol! My poor kids. They would have loved having fries and chicken nuggets though, but what kind of meal would that be on Valentine's night? =) At the end of the night, we called our favorite local restaurant right up the street from us and simply placed an order for a large meal. We picked it up, drove home and had a feast in the privacy and comfort of our humble abode.
I guess it wasn't that bad after all and I will be shopping for unmentionables on Monday, lol! No, there will be no pictures of any unmentionables purchased. Sorry guys. But, I do want to know how your Val's Day went and I hope it was less complicated than mine. Ladies, what did you get? Where there any proposals? Gentlemen, what did you do to surprise the lady in your life? Single ladies and gents how did you guys enjoy/not enjoy the day? Let me know oh! And do not forget to watch the clip I posted on Saturday of a guy I interviewed sharing his thoughts on dating Nigerian women. And, please thank God, oh (or whoever or whatever you believe in)! Emeka Asiwe, one of two Nigerian bloggers arrested last year has finally received his passport and has left Nigeria.
See you on Friday for another TTTEC installment.
Stay well!

Hmmm... apparently so. After my long hiatus I come back to take my rightful first place.... He he he
Anyways Valentine's was good. Between a test, attempted exercise and lots of love talk with my Daddy (my popsy is hilarious sometimes and he feels Val's day should be a national holiday in the US), it was a fun day. Pele about the restaurant thing. I refused to do anything of that sort because I knew that every where would be extra full and I don't think that going out proves love (not saying that that's why everyone does it). So that's that. Hope everyone (on and off blogville) is ok sha.
I guess people were saving money for the valentine's day that's why everywhere was full...finally having the val at home sounds cool (if you you, you would have saved yourself some drive :-) )
So today is the D-Day? Valentine extension. Enjoy.
Hey! So sorry to hear that you guys had to drive around like that looking for a restaurant...I'm glad it worked out in the end.
Happy "shopping" on Monday with the hubby. You sure you don't wanna put up pics? ;) Lol!
im sure the v day will soon be made up for.
LOL. You know what?! you ain't gat nothing on my Val's day. It has easily snagged worst day of 2009 so far. It'll be my next post. I'm still nursing the pain...
Wow! I'm seriously interested in your Monday Shopping.
What can i say /do to make you put up pictures?
LOL@ TK, don't blame him. food is food is food.
I need your Monday shopping like yesterday.......I hate the fact that living at home, you really have no options for Lingerie shopping......*sigh
Valentines day for me was amazing...went dancing with my gf's...my feet are still aching :)
However, every single restaurant was jam packed!! Even the credit crunch cannot hold down february 14th

Lagos was more of weddings and traffic and weddings and traffic and traffic again.
we didnt wanna go out early cos we had stuff to do +we were avoiding traffic then in the evening it rained heavily so at the end of d day, nutin happenend.lol
Mine was laidback: Gymed, shopped, partied.
But yes ma'am, I feel you on every restaurant being packed. My roomie and I decided to drop by PF changs on our way out from the Mall and the hostess told us that there would be a 3hr wait. Chineke! Oh and you shoulda seen the line at Cheesecake factory. We just jejely did an about turn, went home and made dinner.
No o, they just opened one at Towson. I can imagine that the White Marsh and Columbia locations were extra extra packed. Odikwa risky stuff.
Aww...thats nice. I'd have done the same thing...all that hustle and bustle and traffic on Vals day was ridiculous...Well, I heard it was, cos I didn't go out until night time. My brother postponed his dinner to Sunday...smart move by him.
Unmentionables?????...I'm shy...lol
You seem ot have had a lovely valentines day beacause you were with the people you love most. My bf is in a different country and unfortunately we couldnt work out crossing the sea. lol!!
How depressing. No amount of gifts or cards could make up for it. So again i say, lucky you!!!
Ohh yeah my friend Marie got engaged on vals in the most unromantic way. He asks what do you want on the morning of the 14th and she says diamonds. So later in the day he takes her to a shopping and buys and engagement ring. Unique but not so romantic. I am so happy for her though.
Ah! see you come scare me 4 nothing! one minute, i was thinking that something really horrible happened to you guys. Thank God 4 d false alarm. Ur valentine was infinitely better dan mine.
On friday morning, we woke up 2 discover we had been robbed of our car accessories. Saturday, 14th, husband & i were n our respective offices till 7pm!!!! we had energy only 2 buy food from Mama Cass (dat was all we could afford cos we had spent all our saving in fixing up the car again), ate n d car & drove home to sleep cos d weekend was gone & we had only Sunday 2 make up 4 our weekdays sleep deprivation.
So technically is the lingerie for oyu or your Oga? As in who will derive the most joy from their purchase (wink wink) LOL!!
the unementionables!! the unmentionables!!! pictures please...lol
Valentine is getting more and more complicated i tell u.
Glad you still had fun in spite the hiccups.
My boo isn't here so I slept till evening and had to go anchor a Valentine programme in my church.
I was feeling all 'churchy' at the end of the day! lol!
lol, kinda sounds like my day. I didn't get any gifts, but valentines day isn't that huge here and not to me either, so no big deal. We ended up going to a cheap pizza place and movies since EVERY restaurant was packed, lol.
So you got some "ahem-ahem" for vals.
Had my vals on sunday as hubby was working on sat.
I must say I got wooed by two guys on vals who thought I was lonely. lol!
Anywayz hubby & I had some "ahem-ahem" time, talked about how far we've come & where we want to be years 2 come.
We had dinner at our fav chinese restaurant.
Which is what you should have done from the beginning, get take away and switch off all the lights, light some candle and eat on the floor...
Hmmm or is that my own fantasy??
Well, we have something in common there. I celebrated Val’s day with my babymama in the privacy of a hotel room after all the restaurants and hot spots we tried going to were packed full . . . The Palms was crazy, Silverbird Galleria was out of it, Chocolat Royale . . . you name it, it was jampacked. I had originally thought of Takwa Bay but the rains spoilt the day further. We finally resorted to packing all packables from a Shoprite and Nandos at the Palms and leaving, even though we’d have loved to watch a movie or two and spend a lot of time out. Generally, it wasn’t too bad.
Actually a similar thing happened on val's day. Just dinner and everywhere was packed, i had to keep reminding myself that we werent going thru' recession in Nigeria [they say!] Anyways, it wasn't so bad, after going round in circles eventually ended right back in school with the Chinese take away, ice cream[even though i had a cold] and a movie. It also rained, which was my best part!
thats so sad!! @ the rest. bit i can only imagine... I roasted bigggggggggg time... got a present from my lil sis today though.. it is the weirdest gift for vals... a massive GOLD shell for storing jewels n rubbish... said thanks anyway lol :)

It must have sucked for the children, my heart goes out to them - and not to you guys lol! haha, i jokes...you should have told the take-out restaurant people to have made your order royal after your ordeal.
I'm 34th!!! lol.. My dear, as far as i'm concerned, you had a swell day when compared to mine. My day was just ....i cant even say, you should go to my blog and find out..
You should put up pics of the unmentionables though. Cmon dont be a spoil sport..
I'll be checking back till you do..lol
i was work on vals day! sucked....
ur day? way better dn mine...
*AHEM* Define "boo time" please. lol. Yes, I know you wrote other stuff (like the inability to get a restaurant), but I reserve my right to comment on what I wanna comment on.
So, definition, please!
All I got for Valentine was a new Prime Minister and a bit of cholera on the side!!
LOL! That's something I've hated about Valentine's day for a long time. The beaches are usually off limits too.
Having said that, I have agree with Vera this one time. That 'boo time' thing is highly suspect. So where's the definition?
[TYPO ALERT]: *have to agree with Vera
My val was nice save for the rain in lagos that day... Had fun relaxing at a beach house.
Lol...we always celebrate Val's a day before or a day after for this very reason... who wants to be in a packed restaurant with other couples celebrating the same thing? You should try that sometime. I saw your comment on my blog I hope it works like magic when you do it...let me know :)
There's a blog award waiting for you HERE!
For this same reason, mr and i had dinner at home on val's day!
My valentine's day went very well, i have given a brief detail in my new post so i don't want to be sounding like a broken record..lol
Hope you got nice 'unmentionables'!
Yay!!! more comfort seems everyone had a crappy v-day!!!
Misery loves company!! hehe
Dont mind me...., hope u found very unmentionable unmentionables!!!!
Aww..at least it didnt end up soooo bad..
