Na wa oh!!!! Have you ever 'reported' your own mother? Or conspired against her? Before I even begin, thanks to all of you for stopping by to take a look at the first instalment of Images From My Life, Friday. TE was excited to see her wide grin on the computer. She's such a diva!!!!
Alright, back to the subject at hand. The last few weeks, TE, TK and Bomboy have been getting brave. For instance, the older two will sometimes 'talk back' to me, particularly in public. After a few of these mistakes, and the swift punishment I doled out at home and in public, the kids learned their lesson and now refrain from getting 'smart' with me.
Bomboy, as usual, is still up to his usual Bomboyisms!!! In his case, he has chosen to chastise me strongly when I discipline him. Specifically, he points a finger at me, actually, sticks his entire arm at me, and begins to say "Nuh! Nuh!" and then he shakes his head vigorously. Its actually quite funny, being rebuked by an 18 month old baby. But, most times I am not in the mood and threaten him with a dangerous 'mommy will get you stare' that sends him running for cover. That works just fine.
Unfortunately, my kids are quick at adapting. And by "unfortunately", I mean unfortunately for me. lol!
These children have shown me serious pepper oh, my people! They have consppired to 'report' me to as many people as possible. God help me. The other day at the supermarket, my jolly children spent their time saying "Hi" to every passerby. One particular old white lady actually stopped to coo at Bomboy, who was giving her his flirtatious eyes andshowing off his dimples. In a bid for attention, TE said to the lady,
"Do you know what my mommy did?"
The lady beamed at her and asked, "Why? What did she do, dear?"
TE, my lovely daughter, looked at me witha cheeky look and proclaimed, "My mommy beats us!"
Now, did I mention that TE said this very loud? Also, did I mention she said this to an old, white lady? Now, I don't have anything against old white ladies, but this woman looked practically saintlike, like she could be Santa Caus's wife if she wore the right getup. Ah, my heart stopped and I couldn't help but wonder if the woman was thinking I was a 'bad' mom that 'abuses' her children. I stayed calm and just told the kids, "Comeon, guys, let's let the good lady get back to her business." As I walked away, I smiled at the lady and I could have sworn that she gave me a funny look. I finished my shopping and went home. Thankfully, Child Protection Services were not waiting for me when I got there.
After a harsh lecture with my musketeers, I though that would be the end of it. But, I was wrong. Last week, when their father walked in from work, TE sold me out. When asked by her father how her day was, she replied,
"Mommy didn't take us anywhere, daddy. That is unnacceptable!"
And, she wasn't the only tatafo[1]. Bomboy was also in rare form. Husband asked him, "Did you have a good day, Bomboy?" and the child shook his head, and uttered "Nnnnuh!!!"
And, that wasn't the end of it. The other day, Husband and I had some friends come over. They are a nice white couple with a young son of their own. As we all laughed and had a great time, TK got into some trouble and after I disciplined him, he frowned, looked at me and screamed,
"Mommy! Stop beating me!!! You are always beating me!"
Haba! See me see trouble? Na Wetin? These kids are trying to set me up and make me look like a bad mom. Its a consporacy! What should I do?
I hope everyone is well. Stop by on Friday for an interesting discussion on, um, 'poles'. lol!

lol @ bomboy's nuhhhhh, this is the stage where they have to be that way i guess, but i would still pray for troublesome kids that will give me headache than those that will be quiet at that age, then u wud start worrying if they are sick or something, so in all things, we give thanx abi now?
kiss them for me o!
Kids are always reporting their mum.My son knows how to tell his daddy who is just returning from work that mum beat him or that someone came to visit mummy.I guess we must have done that to our parents also and this is karma in a good way.
Take care of them, they are wonderful kids and they make your life exciting!

Those children shouldn't get you into trouble o!
Tell them u have a family of friends in blogville that is watching them
Yes O! I agree with you, when you have more than one child, they always "conspire" against you! Thank God that the people from the Child Protection Services were not waiting for you o!
Eh... but on a lighter note. . . no beat them too much o! Use your "stares" more and keep them guessing on what their punishment might be!
Eyeeee! dis kain 'report card' dey too much oh. haba. d innocent boy was probably thinking na just words e dey utter, e no know say na grenade. na wen social service come calling, na dia e go see say wen handshake pass elbow, na fight dat one don become. eh ya. pele. pls, no beat dem abeg. make dem no unknowingly put u 4 hot soup
"Ruffin' It" is launched!!! If u haven't been there, follow my link ...
nawa o..i dont even know wat to say..
hopefully they'll get over this stage soon...
my aunt, who i lived with for 3 years, before beating/smacking her children who ask them:
"Do u know why mummy is going to give you a smack now"
After they reply with what they have done wrong (children know when they r wrong) she smacks them. i cant remember them reporting her...maybe cuz they know they "deserved" the smacking. lol
eh? we don't want child servicves at the door oh.. maybe a visit to naija or some random African country would be a shock to the system...lol:-)))
I guess you and hubby need to come together and talk to them, until it sinks in that discipline NORM! lol...
Have a great week ahead
i think you should explain to ur kids what happens to naughty kids who get their parents in trouble. foster care and meeeeaaannn old women! show them the movie Matilda. that oughta do it :D
and poles?
isn't this a PG blog?? :P
just like remi said..i think they know very well what type of enviroment..they reside thats why they are pullin stunts.its funny o and its not funny ..i hope i the stage they are in sha...like everybody seems to be saying....
hav a more eventful week with the bunch...:)
I remember I used to that to my aunts, but seriously before some nosy white lady calls Child Protection they need to stop.
lol...
funny but hope they dont say it somewhere it wld be taken too seious!
they are young.....
soon they will understand when mum says no-all they need to do is not do *it* so they dont get spanked
and they will soon get tired of reporting you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
interesting...one thing I wud suggest is that as you go about disciplining the "tenacious trio"...lol, don't do it alone, get ur hubby to do some work also, Im sure they wud catch on to the fact that mummy and daddy can't be wrong for correcting them...
Aunty SS,
Thats not good at all. Ahn ahn, pls let them know why you were disciplining them so you dont get u into trouble. this Americans dont joke o. Pls let them know. Have a great week.
ah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!alakoba! As temite said let them no the reason why u discipline them o!!!ahhhhhhhhhh
LOL@Swift punishment doled out
. When I was growing up it was the other way round. Mom wanting to report us to dad. We’l just ignore her but when we hear daddy’s car horn, we’l start begging “mum pls we r sorry don’t tell dad”
They obviously have no idea the danger there is in telling oyinbo people that 'mummy beats us'. I think u shld show them the desperate housewives season 4 episode. I think its episode 16, some girl told everyone her mum had been beating her and the woman ended up in girl. I think TE esp needs to see that. I'm sure they don't want mummy in jail.
Ef babe
We were five kids and believe me when I say we "conspired" against my parents on a daily basis. In fact, that was our main "job" of the day. To see who we were going to frustate beyond measures.
However, I also believe that they feel very strongly about it and since you have mentioned them "cautioning" you about it before, then I think this is their way of trying to bring your attention to the matter. Thats why they are acting it up with people. They know you don't like it and thats exactly why they are doing it, cos they think thats the only way they are going to get you to listen to them.
Of course, this is the pedagogist in me talking and I am always on the kids side! Especially your adorable kids!
LMAO. I love your kids mehn, there's never a dull moment. You should see this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nn5jlrxcpkI
my first tyme on your blog and its lots of fun!!!
for the life of me...i always thot solomonsydelle was a dude...wonder why...
i've got a lot of catching up to do..off to read
temiloluwa
Hehehehehe…your kids are soooo cute! I remember when my Mon would beat me and I made sure I cried all day till my Dad got home from work. It’s not like he EVER did anything about it oh…I don’t know why I felt like if I told him, he’d make things ok. Anyhoey…I can’t wait to have my own little munchkins and for them to do all these wonderful things to me too! (I know some mothers on here have rolled their eyes all the way to the back at my comment! Lol)
ah GBESE!!! awon alakoba omo...i dunno the solution mehn...we were to scared to even try that thing mehn...maybe ur beating them is not befittin enough for the age and stuff...me I dunno ooo...
i say mail them to naija, keyword here is mail by the way. cos if u take them to naija urself, na from MMA abi ZIK u go start to dey tear their yansh up.
on a serious note, make them understand the reason being the smack-sandwich. cos its obvious they think u just touch them for no reason.
and if u do that and they keep at it. raise the game, use ur eba stick. hehehe
I think I agree with chiefo - paragraph 2. They prolly think you like spoiling their fun.
-I didn't comment on the teeth.
That picture brought back memories.
...say hi to your cuteness-es!!
Kids always tell. To them it comes naturally. To us parents, it's embarrassing sometimes, lol.
I think that you need to continue to do what you are doing. And maybe you should threaten them by telling them if they don't stop telling people that, that you really will beat them (of course you won't really), but they are just trying to win this little game of theirs so that you will be afraid to spank them and they can do what ever they want.
I say hold your ground.
chei those children want to kobalize you o!
You have been tagged with the "I LOVE YOUR BLOG AWARD." Cheers!!
hey, thanks for dropping over at mine. I wonder how you stumbled upon it. Off to read the rest of this entry...
ha ha. Now you would never have that sort of thing happen to you in Africa. Coz lets face it, every parent here rations out a good ol' spanking. It is normal. Your kids have been Americanized! lovely post.
finally, i dont kno y ur blog no dey gree open on top my system oh. lol at ur kids reportin u, hope cps no go come visit u soon.
many thanks for checking up on me. I'm doing great. Just keeping my head down for a bit. Keep the good work going.
LOL...they don't understand the lil smacks yet, hope they don't get u in trouble with child service! take care and my love to them
@ Funkola: Funky, how now? Na you carry first this week oh! And, I know I embarassed my mom, but never to this extent. lol!
@ LG: I hope they grow out of it as well. How you dey, my sista?
@ Remi, UK: lol! How body? I dey carry dem go Naija next year. To reboot their system. lol!
@ Bola: Ah, never do anything you don't want people to know abouot in front of children, oh! Who knows what they will say? lol! I bet if we paired your son up with my munchkins it would be the tatafo adventures all over the place. lol!
Thanks so much for stopping by, my sista.
@ Omotee: Woah! lol! Your mom is gangsta! I like her! lol!
Will definitely give those roughians a kiss on your behalf, lol!
@ Uzezi:abi oh! Take God beg them for me. I no want wahala. I will definitely pass your warning to them, lol!
@ Dee!: Ah, stares ke? The problem with the staring system is that it works on the older 2. Bomboy own no reach. And when he steps out of line, he then encourages insurrection from the others. I have said it from the beginning, na Bomboy wey I get to fear. The guy own too much, lol!
@ FFF:lol! Babe, how nah? I read your story. Very good. Update quickly oh!
@ aloted: Thanks for sharing the story about your aunt. I will definitely apply that. IT will definitely work with my kids who can be very cerebral. Thanks so much!
@ geisha.song: Yes, its time to start talking to them even more. After all they are growing older. All that talking works with TE. But, TK and Bomnboy? Their own na wa. As my husband tells me, speak with dirty smack and they will get it, lol!
@ simeone: Yes, it is just a stage and it is Bomboy that is the ring leader. lol! All will be well.
How you dey? Haven't reached your side this week. Will make my way over there.
@ LusciousRon: lol! Yes, they do need to stop. I'm working on it, though. How you doing?
@ Toluwa Lase:ah, me and you both my sista. How nah? Welcome back!
@ Black Man Comes: So you removed your comment? Now I'm curious to know what it was....
@ Ibiluv: Hope they do, my sista. How you dey?
@ H20-works: Ah, the 'Tenacious trio' (love that one!) know that we don't play. The problem is that Bomboy being the youngest believes he can get away with anything because of his cute dimples. The guy is dangerous. He is the ring leader that one, lol!
@ Temite: You are right. I had a talk with them this week once I got back from my trip. I think they have calmed down, but we shall see if some serious spanking is still in their future on this matter, lol!
@ Pink-Satin: Alakoba, indeed!!! babe, how far nah? This one wey we no dey see you again, I thank God say you take time come reach my side oh!!!
=)
@ doll: lol!!!!! MY sista in law is teh same way. She is forever reporting the kids to their dad, and you should see the begging. lol! Na wa!
How body?
@ eFbabe: Ah, that would put the fear of God in them, though only TE Would really get it, lol!
Thanks so much for the suggestion.
@ Waffy babe: You are right sha. But, with TK only dirty smacks help. Remember the fact that he was constantly peeing in his room for fun? Well, one morning, I spanked him very well. I mean hard and gave a LONG lecture. Its been 2 weeks since he has peed on himself or any part of my house by mistake or on purpose.
TE doesn't hardly get spanked unless she does something just out of control. Bomboy is beginning to get swatted on the hand when he steps out of line. Talking to him just won't do, but he is still a baby so I must take it easy although I know he knows that I know he understands what he is doing. lol!
Anyway, thanks for the advise, will keep it in mind.
@ Isha: Ah, let me go watch the video. How you dey nah?
@ Temi: Welcome to the Easier fam! We are a cool bunch of people and love seeing new faces too! As for think I was a guy, it happens a lot! No problems!
Don't be a stranger!
@ Kemberly: lol!!! No, we all try to enjoy the lives God has given us. In my case, God 'dashed' me 3 rambunctious roughians or as H2Oworks called them, Tenacious trio. lol! May you be blessed with kids that will be a joy and will keep you on your toes. =)
@ Uncle Charizard: hahahaha. e ma da won loun!!! My mother in law says that the problem is that I DON'T BEAT/SPANK HARD ENOUGH. LOL!
Lmaoooo@TK
TE,ye ko je more egba!
Spanking is good jare, my mother beat all the dont be nonsense out of me.She eventually stopped when i got into high school or maybe i had become the responsible child she wanted, LOL.
My darling aburos, i've laughed tire.

Mehn! Na seroius one O! Children of these days. See cheap blackmail.

lol......... i can imagine the way the white lady's looked at u....... like call social services....lol..... my mum said i used to report her to everyone that cared to listen when i was younger. got me more attention...... did i just read discussion on poles??????? cant wait
LOL!!! they really are ganging up on you..lol lol.
My niece and nephew do the same to my sis, everytime i go visit her "its mummy hit me, or mummy made me stand in the corner, or mummy won't let me do this and that".
My sis is a "spanker" so i know they get spanked anywhere if they misbehave. Once we got on the bus and my niece was screaming as if lucifer himself possessed her..her mother grabbed her and dished out some some hot slaps on her bum....all the oyimbo pple were in shock. Never been in a bus with so much silence. I nearly died from keeping a straight face.
your kids are totally delightful!
but pls softly dey beat them o, b4 child services show up.
ur independence day outfit is perfect! lol
Hello dear, see your kids are still u to their usual antics...Just wanted to say hello....
Hi Sis., My kids take me before a law court (their Dad) where I stand accused of 'beating' especially, and other vices. Just take it easy with them o. I have now adopted Stooling down which has worked wonders for me. All in all, they need petting at times and diplomacy to make them comply which is less stressful for me. Lets appreciate God for giving us smart, intelligent & beautiful kids, they such a joy. Thanks for dropping by my blog. God bless.
Gee, this is scary to me, I wonder if I'm ready for all of this. God Please give me the strenght.
