My 2nd son is clearly a breast man. He cannot be around my boobs and just relax. Oh, no... he wants a booby in his mouth. And, immediately, at that! I don't mind because breastfeeding has meant no bottles to clean and/or sterilize and no formula to buy (we have wasted a container of formula quite frankly).
Breastfeeding has also provided a wonderful opportunity to bond with my child in a way that I believe no one else will ever achieve. Absolutely, no one. Well, except for my friend Madame C.
Madame 'Kristal' and I went to law school together. The 'suffer-head' (stress) of the experience brought us close together. A fellow Nigerian sister (though her mother is American), we bonded over memories of our Nigeria and stories of our funny, and similar, family members. In fact, if it wasn't for her, I might not be married to Husband (but that is another story!). She now lives in Salt Lake City, UT and recently came to Maryland for a wedding. Once I heard she was at her brother's house, I packed up the kids into the car and drove to see her.
First thing she did was kiss the older kids, who she knew already, and then she scooped little Bomboy out of his car seat and held him to her generous bosom. I should have guessed that my son had forgotten about me because he did not cry when he went to her. He sometimes cries when an unfamiliar person carries him. This time there was not a sound. She walked around the living room with him, bouncing him and cooing to him. He sat, comfortably, with her for over an hour.
Eventually, he got hungry. He started to nibble at her chest. She laughed and said, "Ah, Bomboy! I don't have any milk for you. Time to go to your mommy."
She stood up and brought him to me. As she passed him to me, my son looked at me, and GRABBED HER BREASTS IN AN EFFORT TO REMAIN IN HER BOSOM. See me see trouble! my son, not even 4 months old, has discovered the world of larger breasts - and he likes them!!!!
After a few tries, he eventually came to me and fed. But, na wa oh! This pickin sabi show person! At his tender age, he will seemingly chose big breasts, even over his own mother, who carried him for 9 months and brought him into this world! LOL! This love for women seems to be something he picked up from his older brother, TK (if you are yet to read that story, make sure you do. Hilarity!). That one has also shown an affinity for ample bossomed women! LOL! I guess my sons are showing their true colors already.

I 'think' I was weaned earlier than I should have been. I don't have any fond memories over the "taste" of breastmilk, but I think all that attracted me to the breast is its feel. I could remember when me and mom used to sleep on the same bed. This was years after I'd been weaned. I'd think she's fast asleep and my hands will go over her bosom just to have a feel of it and I guess she felt it wasn't good that I still loved to touch it at the time, so she tried all she can to stop me. I felt cheated. I always loved breasts! It wasn't just for any reason that breastfeeding is said to be important in bonding mother and child.
One thing I never understand is the difference in attitude towards the breasts with age: why are men obsessed with boobies the older they grow and ladies seem to be less interested in them (except for checking for breast cancer and "size)? Is it cos the latter always have it?

We women love our breasts. They can be very powerful tools, you see. But, I don't think we love them as much as men do. lol! Sorry.
@ Atutupoyoyo: Thank you fro the compliment. Yes, oh! I am trying to live my life as completely and balanced as possible. Thank God I have a hubby that tries to make that possible. He 'gives permission' to me to have fun with friends (just went to watch Rush Hour 3) and gives me a break from running behind these small people (I get almost 2 hours to myself while out for walks/running per day).
As for your other comments re: Abonnema - yes, my mother is from Abonnema and I used to spend a lot of time there as a child. So, you have people there? That is good, now. I started walking at 7mths, and would not stop drinking breast milk, but it was so embarassing for my mom, cause we'd go out, and then u see lil me running around, and when I got hungry I'd run over to her and start tugging like "Give me my breast!!!" LOL
So finally went I was about 9mths, Momsie just went out of town for about 5 days, left me with my aunt, I cried all weekend, but stopped wanting breast milk after that.
My older bro on the other hand, didnt want anything to do with breast milk after 4weeks, as in if u gave it to him, he'd throw up, so he was weaned b4 2mths old! maybe thats how his strong head nature started sef lol
I think he's on the right track, jare. Breast is best! Me, i didn't have the priviledge. According to my Mother, the milk just didn't come. Now as an adult, i'm lactose intolerant. Are the two connected? I do not know. Nice blog. Aisle be bark...(really bad Arnie impression, sorry!)

I feel you on the breast thing o!! Tontolo doesn't let mine be (up till now though I weaned her long ago). I can't get dressed or undressed in front of her cos she comes running and saying 'mommy biest' even in public. (egba mi o).

So funny! My girls STILL will occasionally ask to nurse. In fact my youngest recently asked if perhaps my sister would nurse her because, "I just want to be somebody's baby." I about fell over laughing. :)
I too buy my own push gifts. It takes a strong woman to do so and hey, I love those shoes!

I breastfed my 1st baby boy until he was 17mths old then I delivered the second baby (boy as well) and brought him home. there was a fight because the baby boy 1 could not understand why baby boy 2 was nuzzling at mama's boobs.
He tried to push him off my laps.Same thing happened with the 3rd baby.
My kids loved breasteeding so much that Mr Somebody openly complained that he hardly even gets to see it much less touch .And to think that he used to be the original owner.
